Literacy Program for Prisoners
For a person to be illiterate in the current day and age is, in a sense, like him being blind. It makes him feel less confident, and he starts feeling that he’s not part of the group which matters. The following definition describes literacy quite well. “Literacy is a process by which one expands one’s knowledge of reading and writing in order to develop one’s thinking and learning for the purpose of understanding oneself and the world. This process is fundamental to achieving competence in every educational subject.” SAHEE has made thousands of prisoners literate over a period of 12 years, and has received a lot of acknowledgement from them for changing their outlook towards life.
